XCentric Ideas

A labour of love since 18 March 2006

How XCentric Ideas began

I have always been passionate about food, recipes, décor and magazines. Although I only really started to cook in 1992, when Hein and I got married, my mom and dad's families are great cooks. So I grew up with shark biltong from my dad's family, and baked sweet potato in an Aga from my mom's.

Although I would have loved to be part of a magazine, I lacked the formal training and experience. So Hein and I got thinking…

And on 18 March 2006, the XCentric Ideas email newsletter was born. It was also on that day, five years before, on 18 March 2001, that we lost our only child, seven-month-old Ben. By creating XCentric Ideas, I was picking up life's threads and cultivating my God-given creativity.

My friends and family don't buy all the magazines. Most of them work, or have families, so there is no time to surf the internet. XCentric Ideas compiles ideas, recipes and photos from the internet, magazines and recipe books. It is an absolute labour of love and passion, with no financial gain.

I want to inspire people. I want to share my creativity and my passions.

Life is amazing. Life is about choices. You can sit in a corner and be sad, or you can stand on your toes and shout to the sky: “I'm alive! Let me be all I can be!”

with love,
